In Case You missed It: 2011 Black Girls Rock Performance On BET
The 6th annual Black Girls Rock 2011! Awards in New York aired on BET last night. The show was hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross (‘Reed Between The Lines’) and Regina King. Beverly Bond (pictured above) is the creator and executive producer. The show is based on her non-profit organization titled BLACK GIRLS ROCK! Inc.
Since 2006, BLACK GIRLS ROCK! Inc. has been dedicated to the healthy development of young women and girls. BLACK GIRLS ROCK! Inc. seeks to build the self-esteem and self-worth of young women of color by changing their outlook on life, broadening their horizons, and helping them to empower themselves.

Just sad that yall are sitting here asking why was Tatiana Ali honored? Are you serious or just ignorant? Besides being an actress, she does a lot of charity work and is a HARVARD graduate. She is an eduacation activist that travels all over to promote and mentor black youth on getting their education and why it is important to set themselves apart. DO BETTER!

All of the performances were great its good to see a positive award show along with the halo awards that come on nick
I love the Walking Dead, it’s got me hooked. I didn’t enjoy BGR as much this year. It just didn’t grab me like it did last year. I was happy to see Angela Davis honored though. I love how Estelle got so emotional at the end of her song.
